VWS was founded in 1972 by Ernst Voss, Jan de Waard and Piet Sijm in Egmond aan den Hoef. VWS was specialised in tulips and gladiols which they exported to 4 countries.

In 1983 VWS established a subsidiary company in Wervershoof adding lilies to their specialities and increased export to 10 countries. Five Years later, in 1988, Piet and Riet Sijm took over the business and centralized their premises in Broek op Langedijk, increasing the export market to 15 countries.

In 1996 their son, Gert Sijm joins the management team adding “fresh air” to the business. After 6 years, in 2002, Gert became CEO of the company. Piet Sijm took a step back and became commissioner.

At this moment VWS Flowerbulbs is one of the most progressive export and import companies of flowerbulbs, belonging to the top 10 of the world. Nowadays we export more than 125 million Flowerbulbs to more than 50 countries
